The tuning box – designed for petrol and diesel vehicles – improves power, torque and fuel economy. Essentially, the box ‘tricks’ the ECU into injecting more fuel into the cylinders, so you see an increase in car performance. In the worst case, a bad car tuning box can even cause damage to your vehicle.

What’s better remap or tuning box?
A quality remap will cost more than a quality tuning box. But don’t let that worry you too much. When you’re not pushing your ride to its fullest with performance, remaps will allow for some better fuel economy. So after a few months, you’ll make up the difference at the gas pump.
Is a remap better than a chip?
Remapping carries out the same process as chipping, but does so without actually chipping the car. So if you’re wanting to increase your car’s performance and efficiency, and you’re driving a car built after 2000, then you need ECU remapping. Don’t let anyone try and convince you chipping is what you need.
Will a tuning box void warranty?
The manufacturer ECU is still in full control of the engine, and, how much power it creates. This means a TDI-Tuning box is the safest, and easiest, way to tune a vehicle. But should something go wrong, the manufacturer will know the vehicle has been altered and will not cover anything under warranty.
Can Audi detect tuning box?
No matter what you use, Audi will still be able to see that a tunning box or remap has been added. This is logged by the ECU. If you are on PCP then also be aware that the car isn’t yours and that the provider could ask you to pay all of the cars money up front.
Are all tuning boxes the same?
Not all tuning boxes are the same, beware of the “cheap fakes”. Each map has to be set up on a car specific basis, even different models which use the same engine will have different maps due to variations in weight, gearing and typical use of the car.
Is the TDI-tuning box any good?

What is a smart tuning box?
As the engine speed and fuel pressure alters, a smart tuning box reads the live data from the engine to provide instant changes and then feed data back to the ECU based on it’s calculations for the ECU to dish out the commands and settings needed by the driver. Do I need a custom tuning box or a remap?
A good quality tuning box can outperform a cheap generic remap. We should note that custom remaps do have a place and if you are serious about performance then a custom map is the route you should take.
