What happens at dance tryouts?
Each dance is auditioned separately. The first choreographer to audition their dance will explain a bit about the dance (story, style, theme, etc.) and then show a portion of the dance. Next, any dancer who is interested in being in that dance will get up and learn about 16-24 counts of choreography.
What is the DePaul University dance team?
The DePaul University Dance Team is one of DePaul’s two main spirit squads and is an active part of the athletics program. The Dance Team performs at all home men’s and women’s basketball games, as well as other university and community events.
What does it take to become a DePaul spirit member?
On average, a DePaul Spirit member performs at 30-35 home basketball games. Members are required to be at every game and expected to be in town during DePaul’s six-week winter break and spring break, as this is the peak of our basketball season. Tryouts will be Virtual Video Submissions. Must register to receive required material.
