Selection Criteria
- Preferably a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA qualification, although we will consider applications from ACFI specialist Enrolled Nurses.
- Substantial experience working in an aged care environment and contributing to accreditation processes.
What is Acfi training?
The Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) is a tool to measure the level of care each resident needs based on activities of daily living, resident behaviour, and complex health care. Prior knowledge of the Aged Care Funding Instrument is not required for this course.
Who can do Acfi?
A range of care staff can undertake ACFI assessments, this could include nurses or care coordinators. Some facilities may even have ACFI focussed staff to handle the assessments of all the residents they have in the nursing home.

The ACFI Coordinator is a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse who has demonstrated competency in nursing practice. In consultation with the Facility Manager, this role drives the management of the Aged Care Funding Instrument in order to maximize revenue and ensure care plans reflect current care needs.

All levels of staff contribute to care and ACFI documentation within the Aged Care, including carers, enrolled nurses, registered nurses, and allied health professionals. Outcomes from this documentation then inform funding allocation for Aged Care residents.
What is an ACFI answer appraisal pack?
ACFI Answer Appraisal Pack and is the completed record of the care recipient’s ACFI appraisal or reappraisal. The pack must include all relevant documentation required to substantiate the claim for ACFI subsidy. The documentation must be in the form specified in this guide and relates to the time of the appraisal/reappraisal.
