There are three broad options for visiting Wineglass Bay.

The Wineglass Bay Walk at Freycinet National Park is an easy hike to one of Tasmania’s most beautiful and iconic beaches – Wineglass Bay Beach. The complete trail, to and fro from the car park, is 6 km and should take you 1.5 to 2 hours to complete (not including breaks).
Where does the Wineglass Bay walk start?
The track starts at the car park and almost immediately begins the 250-metre climb to the saddle between Mount Amos and Mount Mayson where the lookout is located (much to the surprise of many visitors, who arrive at the “Wineglass Bay Car Park” expecting the bay to be on their doorstep).

Wineglass Bay is in the NP and not accessible by car, either hike there (first up, then down, approx 3-4 hours one way), or you can go on a Wineglass Bay cruise from Coles Bay. There are a couple beach in Coles Bay and the park. that you can drive up too, or are a short walk from the car park. Friendly beaches are one.
Is Wineglass Bay lookout worth it?
The view is worth it. Would’ve liked to have done the loop but had some wine-tasting duties to attend too……….. We camped at Wineglass bay overnight. The walk was longer/ harder than we anticipated But it was well worth it.

Wineglass Bay. Renowned for its crystal blue waters and fine quartz sand, Wineglass Bay is the main attraction within the Freycinet National Park of Tasmania’s east coast. The 2 hour, 5km return walk to the beach is a must for all visitors to the Park. The trail is well constructed and amazingly accessible for walkers of all levels.
Pack a bathing suit for the many swimming opportunities. Be careful at the northern end of Wineglass Bay as the surf can be a little rough. Ironically, the swimming is better, more secluded and safer at Hazards Beach. Get to the trailhead early in the morning during summer time as this hike is incredibly popular.
How did Wineglass Bay get its name?
The peninsula takes its name from one or both of the brothers de Freycinet, Louis Claude and Louis Henri. In 1802, they joined French explorer Nicholas Baudin on an expedition to map the southern coasts of mainland Australia and Van Diemen’s Land. In the 1820’s, whalers came to Wineglass Bay.
