The most common method to find out is to simply check the coolant and find out what colour it is when the vehicle is cold. Most coolant brands will keep their coolants the same colour to prevent any confusion. If you’re still not sure, check the owners/service manual for coolant specifications.
Is coolant just water and antifreeze?
Ethylene Glycol prevents coolant liquid freezing within your radiator by lowering its freezing temperature, alongside lubricating the water pump and inhibiting corrosion. Engine coolant is a mixture of antifreeze and water, with a common ratio of 50:50.
Can I use Prestone 50/50 in my BMW?

Can I add water instead of coolant?
Yes, you could use water as a coolant in an emergency. However, doing so is not recommended since water won’t work well beyond its freezing and boiling points. This could also cause expensive engine damage.
Can I fill water instead of coolant?
Water by itself can’t do the job of antifreeze due to its lack of boiling and freezing point range and its inability to protect your vehicle’s engine. Plus, it doesn’t absorb heat as effectively. In the case of an absolute emergency, you can use water in your coolant rank.
Is bavauto no longer filling orders?
