How many people have died on Paritutu Rock?

One year ago today three members of a climbing party on New Plymouth’s Paritutu rock died after huge waves swept them into the sea. The other nine members of the party had to be winched from the rock by the Taranaki rescue helicopter. No-one wanted to believe it was happening.
