An LED Pixel consists of one or more LED elements, each connected to an integrated control chip. Thus, each pixel can independently display 16.78 million (i.e., 256 x 256 x 256) possible color combinations (see section “Characterization” for full empirical characterization).

How does RGB pixel work?
The pixel’s RGB data value shows “how much” Red, and Green, and Blue, and the three colors and intensity levels will be combined at that image pixel, at that pixel location. The composite of the three RGB values creates the final color for that one pixel area. In the RGB system, we know Red and Green make Yellow.
How do pixel lights work?

Why is RGB 0 to 255?
It really comes down to math and getting a value between 0-1. Since 255 is the maximum value, dividing by 255 expresses a 0-1 representation. Each channel (Red, Green, and Blue are each channels) is 8 bits, so they are each limited to 256, in this case 255 since 0 is included.
