Spearing legal lobster is legal in The Bahamas. You may only us a pole spear or Hawaiian sling.

Yes. It is illegal to fish with spearguns, pole spears, fish traps, and nets.
Do you need a license to spearfish in the Bahamas?
You can only fish with a Hawaiian sling, or a pole spear, spear guns are illegal here. Spearfishing must be done at least a mile off the coast of New Providence Island, or the south coast of Grand Bahama, and 200 yards from the coast of the Family Islands. When you clear into the Bahamas, ask about a fishing permit.
Where in the Caribbean can you spearfish?
Spearfishing in Isla Mujeres is similar to that of Cancun. Overall good visibility, some great spots to go spearfishing, and the nice, warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. Most spots we spearfish in Isla Mujeres are only a short boat ride from shore.

In California commercial spearfishing is illegal while only recreational spearfishing is permitted under a license. You can both spearfish in saltwater or freshwater, but you’ll need different licenses for both.

Can you use a spear gun in the Bahamas?
You can’t use spear guns or scuba equipment. Sea creatures have more of a sporting chance in The Bahamas, which makes for added fun for fishermen and women too. You can use a Hawaiian sling. Spearfishing is not allowed within one mile of New Providence and/or the south coast of Grand Bahama Island. Go deep, or go home.
